As creations of the "Information Age", we are uniquely predisposed towards a view of the world which favors fragmentation over wholeness. Particularly in the Western culture, with its visual bias, we are more likely to accept an image on a television screen or a photographic reproduction of an event than our own direct experiences. In a sense a kind of technological reversal has taken place, which filters and packages the world around us as if it were composed of consumable goods. Reality as such has become a virtual supermarket of meanings presented to us in no particular order and often in direct contradiction to their surroundings. The paintings presented here were executed shortly after two different trips abroad and reflect an ongoing attempt to reconnect this overabundant technological debris.
